As a part of the SilverCyclists project, the UCLan (University of Central Lancashire) has launched a new survey to find out the preferences of senior tourists and their opinion on cycling during their holidays.
This survey aims at finding out what older people want from their holidays and how receptive they are to cycling as part of that holiday. Accordingly, the survey also explores barriers to cycling. The information gained from this will be extremely useful for informing future approaches to developing cycling holidays for older people.
Along with questions on the general preferences of senior citizen on their holidays, the survey also focusses on the use of the bike by seniors, especially their use and their preferences during holidays, which is in line with the SilverCyclists goal of promoting active European holidays that incorporate cycling.
The University of Central Lancashire is the lead partner of the SilverCyclists’ Work Package 5, which reports on the evaluation of the implementation of the pilot products, as well as the long term management agreement. In cooperation with the EuroVelo network and other partners, the projects overall tries to increase the flow of seniors undertaking holidays by bike both domestically as well as to other European destinations.
